What are some of your favourite details from the day?

I have always wanted to have beautiful invites but having planned the wedding  10 days prior, there wasn’t much point so we sent out emails. Now I look back and love it as we have gotten to re-read so many nice email replies from pre and post-wedding which you can’t do with a physical invite. Our wedding cake was a simple rustic 3 layer cake with 2 different flavours that were a total hit.  I think the flowers is the only thing that remained from the main wedding we were planning. I fell in love with a photo I saw of photos going up and down a  backdrop and knew that’s what I wanted even if we were doing it at home!  They were white with lots of greenery and I still couldn’t believe our florist managed to put that together so beautifully with so little time to organise.

Talk to us about your dress? Where was it from? How long did it take to find and how did you find the overall experience? How about the Suit?

I always knew I wasn’t going to wear a traditional white dress for my civil as being Indian I wanted something that related to my heritage even if it was just the outfit for that day. As for how I found it. I remember a few years ago I was in India and walked into a boutique and the first words out of my mouth were  “wow, I’m definitely getting my wedding outfit from this designer”! So after getting engaged I realised I wouldn’t be able to go to India to do my wedding shopping as I traditionally would have so took a look online at their website to see if anything caught my interest and I straight away knew what I wanted.  They were amazing to work with even so far away and the outfit fit like a glove.  I couldn’t be happier with my choice. Samir had never had a custom suit made and we thought what better reason to get one done than our wedding. We were watching James Bond one day and saw a beautiful blue tux which is when we both turned to each other and said,  yup that’s the one. So his tux was designed based on James Bond haha.

Advice for other couples planning a wedding?

Don’t sweat the small things – no reasonable guest is going to remember the colour of your centrepiece let alone what flower was. But your partner will remember what a nightmare you were about it 😉 Don’t forget that this is just one day compared to your lifetime of marriage so keep what’s an important insight. Make each other happy with your decisions before others. Don’t try to keep up with the Joneses. Do whatever makes you two happy! If that means happy meal toys for favours, go for it. For the actual day. just enjoy it! There is not a thing you can do to fix anything now so just enjoy it! And take time for the two of you, it goes by far too quick 🙂  sneak in all the “omg-we-just-got-married” kisses as you can. You’ll never get this feeling again.
