Tell us about the proposal!
I wanted to share a video but the file was too big to send. Scott and I usually spend Saturday together each weekend as he is a Real Estate agent and usually works on Sundays. The weekend he proposed he was playing in a golf tournament all day Saturday so he suggested we do something Sunday afternoon as he only had 1 open home. I thought that was a great idea. He suggested the young nicks head walk which I hadn’t done before. He made the arrangements and on Sunday afternoon we set off on our walk. It was a glorious sunny day and he suggested we take a back pack with a couple of water bottles (I didn’t think anything of this). Apparently he was very nervous but he was hiding it very well. The walk turned out to be a vertical climb up a fence line haha. We made it to the top and decided that was far enough as it was already getting quite late in the afternoon. Scott suggested I go and get a couple of photos of the view, again I thought this was a great idea. So I was happily taking photos and getting a video of the view and when I turned around he was down on one knee and asking me if I would marry him. I was in shock and didn’t hear a word he said haha. The first words that came out of my mouth were “what the fuck” (whoops, poor Scott thought I was going to say no), then of course I said 1000 times YES! It was such a happy moment. Then he whipped out a bottle of champagne and a few flutes from the back pack. We spent a while enjoying the moment and then went on to celebrate with friends and family. It was the BEST surprise and we had such a fun week celebrating.
Tell us about The Beginning!
We have known each other since we were teenagers and we are in our 30s now. We briefly dated in 2019 but it must have been the wrong timing as it didn’t work out. At the end of 2022 we started dating again. I wasn’t sure as it hadn’t worked out the first time we dated. However, Scott persisted and we ended up at Rhythm and Vines together on New Years Eve. We were standing on a hill watching Alison Wonderland and that’s when Scott new I was the one. Then I got covid and Scott bought me treats everyday and we would sit and chat for long periods, following that we went on dinner dates and walks on the beach etc. In February we had Cyclone Gabrielle here in Gisborne and we ended up living together for the week. This is when I knew Scott was the one. It was super easy to coexist and that really solidified things for us.
