Lauren and Scott celebrated their love at 99 Palms; a magical garden wedding venue in the coastal city of Tauranga.

Lined with iconic Washingtonia palm trees and offering space aplenty, this sophisticated outdoor wedding venue perfectly encapsulated the couples vibe, with them commenting that “it felt very us”. Guests gathered at cocktail hour in an outdoor area with white umbrellas, fairy lights, bar leaners, and white and cane outdoor sofas from LL Hire, before dining and dancing the night away under a clear marquee.

Lauren wore a sophisticated silky slip by Hayes Bridal, with thin spaghetti straps and a low, exposed back. The beautiful simplicity of her silk wedding dress was set against a sweeping, floor-length veil with pearl adornments. Her bridesmaids started the day in silky black bridesmaids gowns before changing into champagne Shona Joy slip dresses, and Scott and his groomsmen wore classic white and black suits from Rembrandt.

The couple said ‘I do’ under a white arch against a breathtaking backdrop of towering palms, and marked the transition from ceremony to cocktail hour with a flowing champagne tower. The relaxed atmosphere of the day was captured in the bridal party photos, which were set against the stunning ocean and native greenery landscapes. The team at Blue Meadow Florals captured Lauren and Scott’s vision for simple elegance with understatedly stunning white floral bouquets made from orchids, roses and baby’s breath, and their minimalist theme was reflected in the white two-tier wedding cake.

Their focus for the day was on celebrating their marriage and partying the night away with the people they love, and they couldn’t have picked a more idyllic setting to do so.

Tell us about The Beginning!

Scott and I met in 2017. He had just come home from racing overseas as a professional cyclist and I was studying in Wellington. We had grown up in the same neighbourhood and knew of each other but had never met. He replied to my Instagram story and as they say, the rest is history.

Tell us about the aesthetic you’ve chosen for your wedding day?

We’ve chosen to get married on a beautiful lawn surrounded by palm trees as it feels very ‘us’. The clear marquee and round oak tables will bring the tradition and our cocktail set up and champagne tower will bring the fun.

What were you most looking forward to on the day?

Having so many people we love all in one place, celebrating our marriage and partying the night away.

Share your top 3 tips for planning a wedding

1. Don’t underestimate how long a pandemic will last when choosing your wedding date.
2. Allocate your budget in line with your values.
3. Trust your gut when choosing your vendors.

MY PHILOSOPHY

I SEEK THE STORIES THAT WEAVE US TOGETHER, THE UNSCRIPTED MOMENTS, INFUSED WITH A HINT OF NOSTALGIA TO REMEMBER HOW IT ALL FELT.

Throughout our lives, we experience connection, learning, different cultures, good food and wine, music, sorrow, love … and it’s beautiful. It’s all these little things that when bought together create the tapestry of our lives and our memories.

If you’re planning a wedding or would love some beautiful photos of you and the people most special to you, I'd love to hear from you.

"We didn't realise we were making memories, we just knew we were having fun"
